Medical cannabis may be helpful for some health conditions. The reasons for using medical cannabis are various and results may vary depending on the patient, symptoms, dosage, duration and type of cannabis used.
Common reasons or concerns that patients use medical cannabis for include:
- Nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy for cancer
- Muscle stiffness for multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury patients
- Joint pain for patients who have arthritis or have injured themselves
- Chronic pain especially if experiencing neuropathic pain
- Low appetite and weight loss for people who are being treated for cancer or have AIDS
- Anxiety – some patients are finding relief while in others it may worsen anxiety
