Acupuncture is an ancient medicine that has been around for over 4,000 years. Its longevity is a testament that this treatment works.
A lot of people think that acupuncture is “just needles” but it really is an entirely comprehensive and whole-body medicine that takes into account your mental, physical and social concerns.
A true acupuncturist (and there are differences) tries to balance the entire body using acupuncture points, cupping, dietary suggestions and herbal preparations.
This therapy is used to treat all conditions, from something as simple as back pain to complicated issues like hormonal acne or thyroid disorders.
Acupuncture visits are very similar to any other physical treatment with the patient wearing comfortable clothing and typically lying face down or face up, depending on needle placement. It is a relaxing atmosphere where the patient can heal.
Patients should wear loose clothing, come adequately hydrated and preferably, do not eat a large meal immediately before treatment. Eating before is actually recommended, but not a buffet!
