Bioidentical hormones are effective for both men and women at reducing the symptoms caused by hormonal imbalance.
BHRT FAQs
-
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) involves using custom compounded bioidentical hormones to relieve symptoms of hormonal imbalance.
Bioidentical hormones are used in BHRT and have an identical chemical structure to the naturally occurring hormones which are produced in the body.
-
We are often asked about the safety of bioidentical hormones, particularly whether bioidentical hormones are safer than the synthetic versions commonly used in HRT. There have been many medical studies on bioidentical hormones; however, as they are officially not drugs they don’t require expensive, large-scale trials, but they are prescriptions.
The clinical data available certainly suggests that bioidenticals are safer. In our experience, many women prefer bioidentical hormones as they feel much better on them and don’t experience the side effects associated with traditional HRT.
As part of ongoing BHRT treatment reviews, we require blood tests, pap tests, mammograms, and pelvic ultrasounds so we can keep a close eye on the effectiveness of treatment and any potential side effects.

If your results show that you have symptoms and/or signs of low testosterone, consider having your testosterone level checked, which can be done by a simple blood test that our NP can order for you. Book an Initial Hormone/Thyroid Consult to discuss your findings and book for a personalized assessment and treatment plan.
Thyroid Treatment Support
Thyroid hormones are produced naturally in the body. Thyroid hormones can become less effective with age or due to other health concerns. Thyroid hormones support metabolism and energy. Standard laboratory thyroid tests are often insufficient to identify all cases of low thyroid function. Your lab results may show that TSH, T4 and T3 are ‘within normal limits’ even though you are experiencing symptoms of low thyroid.
Within normal limits does not = optimal!
Comprehensive lab work will be ordered, reviewed, and monitored to ensure correct treatment is provided.
