Ian Heartfield (he/him), RMT

Life has been a winding road, taking predicted paths that also surprise, sometimes with some discomfort along the way but getting to a place of freedom, comfort, and happiness.  Massage is often not so different; whether the path is of strength and precision, or tranquility and harmony, the end goal is often the same: freedom, comfort, happiness.

I try to find that path, that balance, with every client.  An appreciation of the art of motion, of the intensity of sport, the demands of physical labour, and the rigors of a desk job, helps me find that path.  Having children with my amazing Wife (also a massage therapist) has helped me find that path for prenatal massage. Whatever needs you have, whatever stresses you experience, we can try to find that path together, and get to that place of freedom, comfort, and happiness.

A graduate of Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy, I have found that my skills are often appreciated most by people seeking a relaxing massage combined with targeted deep treatment.  Any concerns are welcome: stress, sports or recent accident/injury, chronic pain, desk-job tension, low back pain and numbness in arms or legs, neck tension and headaches, or assessing a complex situation that you can’t figure out. Although I was somewhat surprised at how popular my pregnancy massage has become, perhaps through getting great feedback from my Wife during her pregnancies, I have embraced this and offer a specialty pregnancy massage table.

I am registered in Manitoba and can issue receipts for insurance claims, and have a registered Blue Cross provider number, however I do not offer direct billing.

Hope to see you soon!

– Ian Heartfield

Dr. Lori Mae Janzen Naturopathic Doctor at the Nature Doctors in Winnipeg

Dr. Lori Mae Janzen (she/her), ND

Dr. Lori Mae Janzen B.Sc., ND is a registered Naturopathic Doctor and member of both the Manitoba Naturopathic Association (MNA) as well as Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). After graduating from University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Science degree (Biology / Biochemistry), Dr. Janzen went on to complete the 4 year naturopathic medical program at CCNM (Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine) in Toronto.

While growing up in rural southern Manitoba, and as she pursued her post-secondary studies, Dr. Janzen’s interest in health and the body’s ability to heal through natural means continued to grow. She always had a passion for plants & nutrition, and dreamed of ways to incorporate these interests with medical expertise. Discovering naturopathic medicine connected these areas of health and healing, botanicals, nutrition, traditional wisdom and forefront medical knowledge. Spending some time volunteering in standard health care settings, including a volunteer clinic in rural Haiti, further solidified her dream of bringing a more preventative, comprehensive and holistic approach of healing to others around her.

In 2009, Dr. Janzen completed Dr. Walter Crinnion’s Environmental Medicine training course. This area of medicine focuses on the impact of environmental toxins or pollutants (including everyday exposures) on our health and the short and long term impacts. Dr. Janzen works to minimize exposures and support natural detoxification processes to increase the excretion of these toxic “body burdens” that can accumulate over time. Immune, hormonal and neurological systems (in addition to others) are often most notably impacted when dealing with chemical body burdens and sensitivities. In addition to this area, Dr. Janzen works with a variety of health conditions including a special interest in: gastrointestinal and digestive concerns, adrenal, hormonal and immune balancing. In 2008, Dr. Janzen started her practice in the Wolseley area and joined the Nature Doctors team in the fall of 2015. Away from the office, she’s an active mom and enjoys a variety of athletics, outdoor activities (including time by the water), music, and especially being with her family.
